COURSE DESCRIPTION
All courses are very friendly, welcoming and supportive. While the courses are mixed ability, absolute beginners are very welcome. As a rule everyone undertakes the same project, theme or medium. Students will be encouraged to share their thoughts and experience of a subject or medium. Per course/block we will focus upon one medium or a range of like medium.
Lessons will mostly take place in the venue/Zoom. Weather permitting, efforts will be made to have en plein air (field trips) sessions. Each new topic/theme or technique will be introduced and demonstrations given both to the whole group and on a small group/one-to-one basis. Throughout you will receive one-to-one support according to your individual needs, theme or medium. At all times you will be given the time and space to explore and learn at your own pace, with people who share your interest and passion for art. All classes are friendly and welcoming. No strangers are allowed, only friends we’ve not met before.
Course Locations and Fees
All classes last for two and a half hours and courses run in 8 week blocks. Blocks run back-to-back, which means you will be able to attend an art class for 48 weeks out of 52. Contact WA for currents fees and dates. While we are not able to offer concessions, we are committed to making courses accessible by keeping costs low and classes full. When introducing an medium for the first time, WA will provide those materials for students to use. When it comes to getting your own materials, your tutor will advise you as to what materials you will require. If you want to purchase materials you can do so via the tutor.
Eaton Park Community Centre Friday 09:30-12:00
Eaton Park Community Centre is a modern building on the edge of Eaton Park which allows for plenty of opportunities for drawing and painting outdoors. The class is held in the committee room which is light and airy. The venue has easy access and disabled accessible toilet. There is an adjacent kitchen which we use for refreshments. Mid class break, tea and a selection of Dulce Gusto coffees and biscuits are made available by the tutor for a small covering fee. The venue has some free parking and plenty of pay and display parking.
Zoom Class Thursday 09:00-11:30
The class is ideal for students who aren’t able to access an art course in their locality or who are not able to travel for whatever reason. The advantages of being held via Zoom are the removal of the need to commute and find parking. No class time wasted setting up or packing away. Being able to easily continue with their art after the class has finished. But the biggest advantage was during demonstrations when each student had a “Ring side view”, because the camera is set-up immediately above the tutors work and students get to watch it’s development as though they were sat in the tutor’s chair. To access the course you only need a PC or Tablet with a webcam and the Zoom app installed. Zoom is free to use. In addition, we use WhatsApp to share images of students progress and get feedback plus re the tutor will send detailed notes and instructions to aid you.
